Saturday, July 9, 2022 – 4:00 pmBurnaby Summer TheatreJoin us as we head off to Camp Winding Woods, a place where talking polar bears wander the forests and making friends is the most important thing. For Ralph, it is the hardest. When he meets Cecelia, they are entirely different and do not get along. It is through their adventures at camp and meeting the mythical talking polar bear, that they learn to embrace their differences and find their way back to camp.

The 2022 Burnaby Summer Theatre returns again this year, with a new troupe of emerging performing artists. This time they’ll be exploring and celebrating our diverse community through Polar Opposites, an original theatre production for youth! Follow Emily, Janavi, Jesse and Muleba across Burnaby and Metro Vancouver in this touring theatre show.

The Burnaby Summer Theatre is an annual professional development program for emerging artists between 16 to 30 years old, created by the Burnaby Arts Council. This program has been partnering with local universities for 30+ years to create a space where theatre artists can devise, produce, direct, and act in an original story for young audiences. Over three months, they will create, perform, and workshop their production from concept to stage. This program is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which creates employment opportunities for Canadian youth as they step into their careers.

A. Multiple banjos

Multiple banjos is exactly what the Royal Canadian Banjo Orchestra delivers as five string banjos join mandolin banjos and a jumbo sized bass banjo to provide their audience with a glorious ringing which will stay in their ears long after the concert finishes.
