A community resource, The New Westminster Public Library
provides books, paperbacks, magazines, records, compact discs, audio cassettes,
VHS video, tapped books, puppets, games, maps, historical photographs,
and pamphlets all available for loan to the public. Newspapers, clippings,
microflims, and annual reports are for use upstairs in the reference department.
The internet is also available for general use.

The Royal City Poetry Centre holds monthly readings,
poetry workshops, discussions and editing. They also hold an Annual Poetry
Picnic Festival.

The Writers' Discovery Group consists of over twenty
writers who meet regularly under a teacher. They compose "EnRout", an
anthology of their writings, yearly. They often have their stories recorded
for the blind, as well they display their novels for sale at Art Council
Galleries, and hold book sales.
